About Ìlera Èkó Health Scheme

About UHC Adoption Tree Lagos

With the enactment of the Lagos State Health law in May 2015, the Lagos State Health Scheme was established and is managed by the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA). The Lagos State Insurance Scheme also known as ‘ÌleraÈkó,’ meaning Healthiness of Lagos. The responsibility of the agency is to ensure that all residents of Lagos State, including public servants, have access to affordable and quality healthcare with the ultimate goal of “Leaving No One Behind”. To ensure that none is left behind, the government set aside the statute backed Equity Fund, which is one percent of its Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF), to provide coverage for residents who cannot afford the health insurance premium. LASHMA established Eko Social Health Alliance EkoSHA. The Alliance consists of a coalition of partners, eminent and respected personalities in the private sector and international development institutions empowerment programs working towards the welfare of Lagos residents. EkoSHA is to provide alternative funding to supplement the equity fund and ensure that all Lagos state residents, including its vulnerable population, have access to the state health insurance within the Lagos State Health Scheme (LSHS).

In its effort to raise complimentary funding to facilitate access to health insurance for the vulnerable population of Lagos State, LASHMA entered partnership with SaltinGStein Limited to launch the UHC Adoption Tree Project. This project seeks to support the scheme achieve universal health coverage by securing adequate funding for the health insurance premium of 50% of the vulnerable population by 2030.
